Sit in machine with back against pad. Put lower leg behind paded lever roll. Knee articulations and lever pivot have to be at the same axis. Extend one knee to completely straighten leg. Other leg rests in position. Return, keep contraction and repeat. Continue with other leg. Stabilizing muscles are involved to keep body on seat when heavy resistance is used.
